The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan brings a redesigned cabin layout that rethinks how drivers interact with storage and controls. The gear selector has moved to the steering column, freeing up space for an 8-litre centre console that increases the amount of accessible storage without adding bulk to the dashboard. The standard 12.9-inch touchscreen can be upgraded to a 15-inch display on higher trims, both running Volkswagen's MIB4 infotainment system that responds faster to inputs than the previous generation.
Genuine walnut wood décor appears on Highline trims, and the new Driving Experience Dial sits in the centre console where drivers can control volume, switch drive modes, and adjust the Atmospheres feature. This setting synchronizes ambient lighting with audio presets to create different cabin moods. These upgrades apply across all Tiguan trims sold in Quebec, from Trendline models to the R-Line Black Edition and Highline variants.
The gear selector has moved from the centre console to the steering column, which opens up an 8-litre storage compartment where the shifter previously sat. This space accommodates items like phones, wallets, sunglasses cases, or small bags without blocking access to cupholders or climate controls. The centre console includes removable dividers that allow drivers to organize smaller items or create one larger storage area.
The steering column-mounted gear selector uses the same shift pattern as traditional column shifters, with Park, Reverse, Neutral, and Drive positions. The change doesn't affect how the transmission operates; it only relocates the control mechanism. The centre console also includes wireless charging for compatible devices and two 45-watt USB-C ports for fast charging.
The Trendline and Comfortline trims include a 12.9-inch touchscreen, while Highline models upgrade to a 15-inch display. Both screens run Volkswagen's MIB4 infotainment system, which processes inputs faster than the previous MIB3 generation and reduces lag when switching between functions like navigation, audio controls, or vehicle settings.
The MIB4 system includes wireless App-Connect for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio with natural voice control, and the myVW mobile app that connects to Volkswagen Car-Net services. The system responds to touch inputs, voice commands, and the multi-function rotary dial in the centre console.
The Driving Experience Dial sits in the centre console and consolidates three functions: volume adjustment, drive mode selection, and access to the Atmospheres feature. Drivers rotate the dial to increase or decrease audio volume without reaching for the touchscreen. Pressing the dial switches between drive modes like ECO, Normal, or Sport (on 4MOTION models), which adjust throttle response and transmission shift points.
The Atmospheres feature combines ambient lighting with audio settings to create preset cabin environments. Up to five preset Atmospheres are available, along with a customizable option where drivers can select their own lighting colour and audio profile. The ambient lighting system includes up to 30 colour options depending on trim level, with lighting integrated into the dashboard, front and rear doors, door pockets, and front footwells.
Highline trims include genuine American walnut open pore wood décor across the dashboard, which adds a natural material element to the cabin design. The wood trim extends along the dashboard and coordinates with the wrapped and double-stitched centre console. The Highline also includes upgraded Varenna leather seating surfaces with ventilation, 10-point massage, and quilted stitching.
An Amber Brown interior option is exclusive to the Highline trim and pairs with the walnut wood décor. The driver's seat includes 3-position memory settings, while the passenger seat offers 8-way power adjustment with 4-way lumbar support.

The Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro provides a 10.25-inch configurable instrument cluster that displays speedometer, tachometer, navigation directions, driver assistance system status, and vehicle information. Drivers can switch between different display layouts using controls on the steering wheel. The Digital Cockpit Pro integrates with the MIB4 infotainment system to show navigation map overlays directly in the instrument cluster.
The system also displays Travel Assist status, which combines Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Emergency Assist for semi-automated driving assistance on highways. When Travel Assist is active, the Digital Cockpit Pro shows the vehicle's position relative to lane markings and detected vehicles ahead.
Trendline models include dual-zone Climatronic Touch automatic climate control with separate temperature settings for driver and passenger. Highline trims upgrade to three-zone Climatronic Touch, which adds a third climate zone for rear passengers. The system uses touch controls on the dashboard and includes second-row air vents with manual adjustment.
Heated front seats are standard across all trims, and Highline models add heated rear outboard seats. The heated steering wheel is also standard on all Tiguan trims.
Highline trims include the Harman Kardon premium audio system with 12 speakers plus a subwoofer. The system is tuned specifically for the Tiguan cabin dimensions and includes sound processing that adjusts audio output based on road noise and vehicle speed. Trendline models include a 6-speaker audio system, which upgrades to an 8-speaker setup on Comfortline trims.
The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan introduces interior updates that change how drivers interact with controls and storage. The gear selector relocation creates an 8-litre centre console, the MIB4 infotainment system runs on displays up to 15 inches, and the Driving Experience Dial consolidates volume, drive modes, and Atmospheres settings.
